2 tractor-trailers hit by gunfire in ‘ambush-style shooting’ on I-85

Two tractor-trailers had their windows shattered after they were hit by gunfire in an “ambush-style shooting” early Friday morning near Tuskegee.

The cabs of both 18-wheelers were struck by bullets by the drivers were not hurt, Macon County Sheriff André Brunson told WRBL.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Friday on I-85 North near Exit 32, near Tuskegee.

The drivers described the incident as an “ambush-style shooting,” WRBL reported.

A pickup truck and a mid-sized vehicle were parked near each other on the side of the interstate.

When the 18-wheelers passed those vehicles, shots were fired from the vehicles’ location, Brunson said.

Authorities searched for the suspected vehicles but no suspects have been apprehended.
