Double shooting injures man, woman Friday in Brighton

A man and a woman were found shot early Friday evening in Brighton, the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 3800 block of Banks Street in Brighton around 5:25 p.m. Friday on a report of a person down, the office said.

Deputies found a woman lying in the street and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The injured man was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in a room of a nearby house, the sheriff’s office said.

Birmingham Fire & Rescue Service personnel and Advantage EMS transported the victims to local hospitals.

The severity of their injuries was not immediately known.

The case remained under investigation Friday evening.
