Body found in southwest Birmingham investigated as homicide victim, police say

A body discovered Friday afternoon in southwest Birmingham is being investigated by police as a victim of a homicide.

The body was found on 18th Place Southwest near Ishkooda Lane.

Multiple police officers and detectives are on the scene. A tow truck is at the scene to move a car that is considered evidence.

The identity of the person found dead, or whether it is a man or woman, is not yet known.

Police have been investigating the disappearance of Nakita Chantryce Davidson, a 40-year-old mother of four, since early Thursday morning. Her boyfriend, Cedric Dewayne Robertson, 37, is charged with first-degree kidnapping.

The investigation began when South Precinct officers were dispatched at 2:11 a.m. Thursday on a report of a two-vehicle wreck at Sixth Avenue S.W. and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Officers arrived to find evidence of a possible shooting.

Police earlier released a photo of a pink Nike sneaker found at the scene of the reck, and that photo helped to identify her. Davidson’s vehicle – a 2008 burgundy Saturn Outlook – was driven away from the scene.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
