Baldwin County hopes to turn landfill biogas into renewable fuel – and cash
Baldwin County authorities are hoping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions – and make a little money at the same time – from the county’s Magnolia Landfill through a plant that will capture the gases and convert them to natural gas for a local utility company.
“That methane gas, when you say landfill gas recovery, is being converted into natural gas and it will be used as part of their [Riviera Utilities’] fuel source,” Baldwin County Commissioner Billie Jo Underwood said. “In my opinion, that is amazing.”
