Slain Jefferson County woman feared ‘abusive’ boyfriend, records show; hospitalized suspect charged
Charges have been filed in last week’s domestic killing of a 46-year-old Jefferson County mother and grandmother.
Antonius Darrell Bonner, 43, is charged with murder in the Thursday shooting death of Lakechia Rena Bryant.
Bryant was affectionately known as Keedy. Those who knew her said she was sweet and humble.
Bonner remains hospitalized after he was shot multiple times by Adamsville police during an exchange of gunfire following a chase.
Bryant’s body was discovered about 10:30 a.m. Thursday after family became concerned because they had not heard from her since Wednesday night.
Family members went to check on her and broke into her Mulga home in search of her. That’s where they found her dead.
She, too, had been shot multiple times. She was pronounced dead in her home at 11:18 a.m.

“Bonner was currently in an abusive relationship with the suspect and informed multiple individuals she was afraid of Bonner,’’ a detective wrote.
Bonner was not on the scene when family and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies arrived.
A lookout bulletin for him was issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies.
Adamsville Police Chief Chris Robinson said his office was notified about 1 p.m. to assist in located the suspect who was believed to be in Adamsville.
Officers spotted Bonner’s vehicle and tried to stop him, but he fled.
After a short chase, officers deployed spike strips, which deflated the suspect’s tires.

Officers rendered aid until Adamsville fire medics arrived on the scene. RPS transported him to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Sheriff’s investigators obtained the murder warrant against Bonner from the Bessemer Cutoff Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating Bonner’s shooting.
