11-year-old Alabama boy killed in ATV crash remembered for his ‘bright spirit’
A sixth-grader killed last week in a traffic accident is being remembered by friends and family for his zest for life.
Carson Bowling, 11, died last Wednesday when the ATV he was driving collided with a vehicle in Fort Payne.
A GoFundMe page created to provide support for Bowling’s family has raised nearly $30,000 as of Monday morning.
Bowling, the youngest of five children, was a student at Cornerstone Christian Academy and a member of Rock Bridge Holiness Church. His father, Dean Bowling, the pastor of Rock Bridge, died in October 2022.
“The Bowling family has already endured the loss of their father, Dean, just over a year ago. Their strength and resilience in the face of such adversity are truly inspiring,” a statement on the page reads.
Fort Payne police received a call of a traffic accident around 4:08 p.m. Wednesday in the 3100 block of Wallace Avenue NE involving a vehicle and an ATV, according to Chief David Davis.
The boy was taken to DeKalb Regional Medical Center, where he died of his injuries, Davis said.
No charges are expected in the incident. Bowling’s funeral was Sunday.
“During this time of deep sorrow, let us remember Carson’s bright spirit, his infectious laughter, and the impact he made on each of us. We will forever cherish the memories we shared with him,” the GoFundMe page reads.
