Man charged with capital murder of father killed in front of his daughter
A 30-year-old man is charged with capital murder after the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said he shot and killed a 35-year-old man in front of his 10-year-old daughter.
Early Sunday morning, around 1:45a.m., the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to a shooting in the 4600 block of Virginia Drive in Tuscaloosa. A man identified as Jakeria Rashaad May — who family members call “Keith” in Facebook posts today about his death — was found with multiple gunshot wounds after an altercation at his home.
Multiple family members that AL.com reached out to did not immediately respond.
May was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, but died from his injuries. The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit was called to launch an investigation into the shooting, said Capt. Jack Kennedy, who leads the unit for the sheriff’s office.
After investigators recovered evidence and talked to witnesses, investigators identified Terrelle Devonte Williams as the suspect and worked alongside the U.S. Marshalls Task Force to locate him, Kennedy said. Williams was charged with one count of capital murder and placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond.
