Predawn gunfire in Midfield leaves 1 man dead

An investigation is underway after a deadly shooting early Saturday in Midfield.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 2:01 a.m. to a report of shots fired in the 1300 block of Woodward Road.

They arrived to the find the victim – an adult male – on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds, said sheriff’s spokesman Henry Irby. Midfield Fire and Rescue pronounced the man dead on the scene.

No additional details have been released. The sheriff’s office investigates crimes that happened in Midfield on the weekends.

The deadly shooting is Midfield’s first homicide of 2024.

In all of Jefferson County there have been 46 homicides this year, including the one in Midfield.
