A Fairhope woman riding a scooter died after she was hit Wednesday night by an SUV in Baldwin County, authorities said Thursday.

Haygen Kristian Taylor Lightfoot, 30, was operating the scooter around 7:32 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 96 near the 62-mile marker when she was struck by a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Joshua Thompson.

Lightfoot was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., where she died of her injuries, Thompson said.
