Montgomery County deputy sheriff critically injured in wreck

A Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash.

The wreck happened at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 4500 block of Hobbie Road, according to Sheriff Derrick Cunningham.

Deputy Jermyius Young, 21, was taken to Baptist Hospital South. His condition is critical.

Young was on duty and driving his patrol vehicle at the time of the crash. Additional details have not yet been released.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is leading the investigation.
