Forecasters watch for possibility of storms on Tuesday
The National Weather Service is keeping an eye on weather trends for Tuesday, when strong to severe storms could be possible in parts of Alabama.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has outlined an area in north and north-central Alabama that could potentially see severe weather on Tuesday. Severe weather, at this point, is not expected in the southern half of the state.
The weather service said the strongest storms could have damaging straight-line winds and heavy rain.
The weather service said the timeframe at this point is murky because forecasters are uncertain when the front will pass through.
Forecasters will be watching a storm system approach Alabama from the west, bringing a cold front along with it. Strong to severe storms could develop along the front or ahead of it.
The weather service expects a shot of cold air to follow Tuesday’s weather system, and lows could again dip down into the 30s in northern Alabama next week.
