Woman surrenders to police in east Alabama hit-and-run that injured 4-year-old boy
A woman has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that injured a 4-year-old boy in east Alabama.
Anniston police on Wednesday announced the arrest of 20-year-old Amarie Curry. She is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury, which is a felony crime.
The child was struck on Saturday, March 16, in the 2500 block of McDaniel Avenue. Authorities at the time said a two-door blue Hyundai coupe fled the scene.
Anniston police Lt. Brian Brockman said the boy sustained a broken leg. He is out of the hospital and continuing to recover.
Police posted about the hit-and-run on Facebook Monday, which was shared more than 1,000 times.
Currie, he said, then turned herself into police. She lives near where the child was struck.
Curry is out of jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
