Multiple shots fired in dispute outside tire shop on busy Crestwood Boulevard; 1 wounded
A dispute led to gunfire at tire shop on busy Crestwood Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.
Irondale police Det. Sgt. Mike Flippo said officers responded shortly before 4 p.m. to T.J. Tires on a report of a shooting.
It appears, Flippo said, that two males who are related got into some type of disagreement which led to multiple shots fired.
“We’re not sure what the altercation was about but we do have one male shot and transported to the hospital,’’ he said.
At least three bullets hit the business’s front windows.
After the shooting, Flippo said, one of the men involved ran across the street to a strip of stores that houses Dollar General and O’Reilly Auto Parts where he encountered police.
A potential suspect has been detained.
Flippo said detectives are in the early stages of the investigation.
He noted that the shooting happened during a busy traffic time on Crestwood Boulevard.
“It’s not advisable to discharge a firearm and not be accountable for where that projectile is going, especially on a busy highway like this,’’ he said. “There’s a ton of traffic. It could be a very dangerous situation.”
