Mobile pushed forward Tuesday with plans to demolish and rebuild the Mobile Civic Center arena, with the city council authorizing several contracts related to the project.

“This thing has sat there for decades with everybody trying to figure it out,” Mobile’s Chief of Staff James Barber said after the meeting. “You finally see movement going forward. Today was a really big day.”
