Alabama women’s basketball season came to an end on Sunday, when the Crimson Tide lost to Texas in the NCAA Tournament’s second round. The No. 1-seeded Longhorns took down the Tide 65-54.

UA was able to keep things close for much of the way, but Texas proved too much in the late going. Aaliyah Moore and Madison Booker led the way for the Longhorns, leading all players with 21 points.

Moore also led the team in rebounds with 10. Sarah Ashee Barker led the Crimson Tide in scoring with 17 points, with Aaliyah Nye and Loyal McQueen also in double figures with 14 and 12 points respectively.

Scoring was a major struggle for the Crimson Tide throughout the defeat. Alabama hit just 34% of its attempts from the field, 28% from three, while never leading the game at any point.

The Tide averaged just .857 points per possession. Texas managed 1.032.

The Longhorns move on to the Sweet Sixteen. They’ll play the winner of the Gonzaga- Utah game, which will be played later on Sunday.

Alabama wraps up the 2023-24 season with a 24-10 record after the loss. The Crimson Tide made it to the second round of the tournament as a No. 8 seed, after defeating Florida State to open the event.

That win was the Tide’s first in the NCAA Tournament since 2021.
