Meteorologist James Spann on the science behind saving lives

When most people think of ABC 33/40 meteorologist James Spann, suspenders, polygons, and stormy days come to mind. As a young boy who used to watch the thunderstorms rolling in, Spann said he never could have imagined becoming the prominent figure he is today.

In this week’s Sunday Q&A, Spann offered safety tips for the remainder of Alabama’s tornado season [which runs Nov-May] and shared some reflections from April 27, 2011, a day that continues to weigh heavily on his mind more than a decade later.
