South Alabama homered four times — including twice in the first inning — to build an early lead at Troy on Saturday, then held on for a 10-8, series-clinching victory at Riddle-Pace Field.

Ethan Melton, Jacob Haley, Micah Morgan and Brennan Holt all went deep for the Jaguars, who totaled 12 hits and nine walks. South Alabama — which won 12-8 on Friday night — goes for the series sweep at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Jaguars (14-9, 2-3 Sun Belt Conference) jumped out to a 7-0 lead after four innings Saturday on the strength of solo homers by Melton and Haley in the first and Morgan in the second, plus Joseph Sullivan’s three-run double and Holt’s RBI double in the fourth. After Troy (15-9, 2-3) got on the board on Ethan Kavanagh’s sacrifice fly in the fifth, Morgan’s sac fly in the sixth made it 8-1.

Troy finally got the bats going in the fifth, scoring five times to pull within 8-6. Aidan Gilroy and Kavanagh both had two-run singles for the Trojans, while Kole Myers had an RBI hit.

South Alabama padded its lead with Holt’s 2-run homer in the eighth, making it 10-6. Troy got Tremayne Cobb’s RBI double and Blake Sutton’s run-scoring single in the ninth, and had the tying runs on base when Jaguars reliever Leif Moore struck out Colton Watts to end the game.

South Alabama starter Cam Hill (3-1) got the win, allowing six runs (five earned) in 5 1/3 innings. Moore picked up his first save by getting the final out.

Holt finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored to lead South Alabama at the plate, while Melton and Sullivan also scored three times and Melton and JG Bell had two hits each. Haley, a freshman who made his Jaguars debut on Friday after missing the first 21 games of the season due to injury, homered for the second straight day.

Myers went 4-for-5 in a losing effort for Troy, while Kyle Mock had three hits and Kavanagh drove in three. Trojans starter Clete Hartzog (3-2) took the loss, allowing three runs in two innings.
