Birmingham Stallions waive wide receivers from Alabama

Three more United Football League teams announced their rosters on Friday as they enter game week for their season-openers.

Each UFL team can carry 50 players in the regular season, and teams are shedding players from their training-camp lineups to reach that figure. When the Birmingham Stallions, San Antonio Brahmas and St. Louis Battlehawks announced their roster decisions on Friday, four players with Alabama football roots were among the players placed on waivers.

The Stallions waived wide receivers Slade Bolden (Alabama) and Myron Mitchell (Jasper, UAB), the Brahmas waived wide receiver Jordan Veasy (Gadsden City, Faulkner) and the Battlehawks waived offensive lineman Dallas Warmack (Alabama).

Mitchell had 15 receptions for 138 yards and one touchdown for Birmingham’s USFL championship team last year after spending the previous two seasons with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings.

Warmack was let go after playing for St. Louis last season.

Veasy, who has been on the rosters of seven NFL teams and played in two regular-season games with the Houston Texans in 2021, had 21 receptions for 275 yards and three touchdowns for the XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons last season. Seattle traded Veasy to San Antonio during the offseason before the XFL and the USFL merged into the United Football League.

Bolden went to NFL training camp with the Baltimore Ravens in 2022 but ended up on injured reserve. In 2023, Bolden was in training camp with the Atlanta Falcons but was released when the team reduced its preseason roster to the regular-season limit.

The Stallions also waived safety Bubba Bolden, center Cohl Cabral, offensive lineman O’Shea Dugas, outside linebacker Maalik Hall and defensive ends Chauncey Rivers and Anree Saint-Amour.

Friday’s cuts left the three teams with five players from Alabama high schools and colleges:

San Antonio Brahmas

· Offensive lineman John Yarbrough (Homewood)

St. Louis Battlehawks
