2 accused of charging $40K to Alabama school system gas cards
Decatur police say two men have been arrested in connection with $40,000 worth of unauthorized transactions using school system gas cards.
Samuel Kieran Booker and Dy-Kerius Rushuan Allen have both been charged with fraudulent use of a credit or debit card, according to police. Booker turned himself into police on March 8, while Allen did the same on March 14. Booker was booked into the Morgan County Jail on $1,000 bond, and Allen on $2,000 bond.
According to police, Decatur City Schools officials filed a report in February dealing with unauthorized transactions on multiple gas cards dating back to May 2021.
Investigators say Booker and Allen were former employees of the system who resigned in April 2021. Shortly after, they say, the two began using cards assigned to school system vehicles.
In all, the charges totaled more than $40,000, police said.
The case has been forwarded to the Morgan County District Attorney’s Office for the consideration of additional charges.
According to WHNT, officials with the school system said it has taken proactive steps to prevent further unauthorized access and charges
