Mega Millions nears $1 billion: When is the next drawing and how much could you win?
The Mega Millions jackpot is approaching $1 billion after no ticket hit the grand prize earlier this week.
The top prize for the Friday, March 22 drawing is estimated to reach $977 million or a $461 million cash payout. It’s just the sixth time in the game’s 22-year history the jackpot has reached this level, surpassed only by the five jackpots that topped $1 billion.
Tuesday night’s numbers were white balls 24, 46, 49, 62 and 66, plus the gold Mega Ball 7.
The last jackpot was won on Dec. 8 by two tickets in California, followed by 29 consecutive drawings without a grand prize.
Tickets are $2 each and are sold in every state except Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.
Drawings are conducted on Tuesdays and Fridays – so the next drawing is March 22 – in Atlanta at 11 p.m. ET (10 p.m. CT). The chances of winning the big jackpot are 1 in more than 302 million.
