Alabama senator attacks Democrats, opponents as ‘satanic cult’
Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville likened his political opponents to members of a satanic cult and said no Democrat supports God.
Speaking at a campaign stop on behalf of a senate hopeful in Utah, Tuberville delivered a scathing rebuke of political opposition and called it a fight against good and evil, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
“I’ve traveled all over the country — all 50 states — I’ve been in good places and bad places. The one thing I saw, we are losing our kids to a satanic cult,” he said according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Tuberville spoke to a crowded audience on behalf of U.S. Senate candidate Trent Staggs in the race to replace outgoing Sen. Mitt Romney.
“There’s not one Democrat that can tell you they stand up for God,” he is quoted in the Salt Lake Tribune article.
Tuberville, according to the article, predicted that left-wing mobs are planning chaos around the country to help President Joe Biden win reelection against a comeback attempt from former President Donald Trump.
Tuberville stood firm in his position during a brief interview with the Tribune afterward.
“They’ve basically taken God out of everything that we’re doing. I don’t know any other way to express it other than it’s some kind of cult that they’re trying to push on our kids and all Americans,” Tuberville said. “We have got to get back to our moral values. If we can’t get back to that and let the Democrats continue to push this cult on us and take God away from our country, we’re going to have huge problems.”
Tuberville, a former head Auburn football coach, is an ardent Trump supporter who is known for making eyebrow raising statements in defense of the former president and conservative Republican issues.
Tuberville made national headlines last year for the 10-month block of military promotions in protest Pentagon policies regarding abortion.
