Huntsville teen on spring break arrested after reportedly punching 2 Florida deputies
A 15-year-old Huntsville boy on spring break in the Florida Panhandle is facing two counts of assault on a police officer after he reportedly punched two deputies as he was being arrested for underage drinking.
According to the Walton County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office, deputies were working spring break crowd control on a large group of juveniles near Seagrove Beach Sunday night when they found the 15-year-old drinking a Michelob Ultra.
As they were placing him under arrest, the teenager punched one of the deputies in the side of the head. Once handcuffed, the teen was being escorted to a patrol car, but slipped out of his handcuffs and punched another deputy in the nose, according to the sheriff’s office.
In addition to two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, the Huntsville teen is facing charges of resisting arrest with violence, obstruction with violence, and possession of alcohol by a minor.
He was first booked into Walton County Jail before being transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Crestview, Fla.
