Auburn’s Johni Broome, Jaylin Williams, Aden Holloway receive All-SEC awards

After a season where he led Auburn in scoring, putting up 16.3 points per game, Johni Broome has been named to the All-SEC first team by the league’s coaches, as announced Monday.

Jaylin Williams was named to the All-SEC second team for the second time in his career.

Broome was also named to the All-Defensive team, the fifth Auburn player ever to receive that award. Aden Holloway was named to the All-Freshman team, the 15th Auburn freshman to do so.

Broome scored 505 total points this season which is by far the most among any big man in the SEC. The next closest forward is Florida’s Tyrese Samuel and his 427 points. Broome’s 505 points are the eighth most of any SEC player.

His 16.3 points per game are the most among SEC forwards, tied with Mississippi State’s Tolu Smith.

Broome was also second among any SEC player in total rebounds and rebounds per game. His 71 blocks are tied for the league lead. He also was top-30 in the SEC in assists, including guards.

Broome’s ascension to one of if not the best SEC big man comes from improvement in the all-around aspects of his game. He has become a much better passer and shooter this season career bests by significant margins in assists per game and 3-point shooting percentage. Broome has made 24 3-pointers this season after making nine total over his first three college seasons.

Williams was Auburn’s second-leading scorer at 12.9 points per game and the winningest player in Auburn history with 110 wins. This season has been by far the most dynamic offensive campaign of his time at Auburn.

Holloway entered the season as a 5-star recruit and worked his way into the starting point guard spot. His best attribute, 3-point shooting, has been inconsistent during the 2023-24 season, but he did lead Aurbun with 50 made 3s.
