Brother of LSU women’s hoops star arrested after fight

The brother of LSU women’s basketball star Flau’jae Johnson remains in a Greenville, S.C., jail after running onto the court and entering an altercation between the Tigers and South Carolina during Sunday’s SEC tournament final.

Trayron Milton, 24, is charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct. As of midday Monday, he remained in the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting a bond of a little over $1,000, according to jail records.

The altercation began with a little over two minutes remaining in the Gamecocks’ 79-72 victory. Six players were ejected, including South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso.

After Johnson — the 2023 SEC Freshman of the Year and a second-team all-conference pick this year — bumped South Carolina’s Ashlyn Watkins near the bench, the 6-foot-7 Cardoso ran up and pushed Johnson to the floor. That’s when Milton leapt over the scorer’s table and rushed toward Cardoso, but he was quickly detained by police.

The SEC office has yet to rule on any discipline for the involved players. ESPN erroneously reported that all six ejected players — Cardoso, Tessa Johnson, Chloe Kitts and Sakima Walker for South Carolina and Aalyah Del Rosario and Janae Kent for LSU — were automatically suspended for the first game of the NCAA tournament (which is not true), though they could still face suspension or other punishment from the league office.

The undefeated Gamecocks are a lock for a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA women’s basketball tournament, while the defending national champion Tigers are projected as a No. 2 seed.
