One-of-a-kind downtown Mobile restaurant relocating

Downtown Mobile’s finest (and only) ramen shop is relocating – to a larger, more visible location that keeps its noodle bowls and banh mi in front of downtown diners.

Wade Price opened Slurp Society in late 2022 at 69 S. Mobile St. The location is a little off the beaten path of Mobile’s Dauphin Street entertainment corridor, but discerning diners remember it as the longtime home of the excellent Von’s Bistro. Thanks to some shrewd online marketing by Price, and an unguessed hunger for noodles, the shop opened to overwhelming demand.

This week, Slurp Society has announced on social media that it was moving on “to bigger and better things” at 609 Dauphin St., formerly the home of Five Bar.

“We’ve made a ton of memories and met a ton of awesome people at our little hole in the wall on Saint Michael St.,” read one Facebook post. “It’s time to make some new ones. We’re ready to become a bigger part of the downtown scene and just make Slurp Society better. Get ready for expanded menus, new hours of operation, dope AF events, and everything in between. Keep an eye out for updates as the grand opening gets closer. Love ya, you bunch of freaks! Here’s to even more noods all the time!”

The restaurant said the move should occur in two to three months, “if all goes to plan.”

A follow-up post made clear that the current location will operate until the new spot is open. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday. For menu and other information, visit https://slurpsociety.co/.
