2 dead in possible murder-suicide at Dothan home

Two people are dead following a possible murder-suicide midday Wednesday at a Dothan home.

Police Lt. Scott Owens said officers were dispatched just before noon to a report of someone shot in the 900 block of East Bunche Street.

When they arrived, they found a woman in the front yard. She had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Owens said they received reports that the suspect had gone either into the residence, or around the back. Multiple attempts to contact him by phone and loudspeaker were unsuccessful.

Officers forcefully entered the front door of the home and sent in the bomb robot. The robot picked up footage of a man wearing clothing that matched that of the suspect.

He was dead on the scene from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Owens said.

The investigation is ongoing.

“We’re still looking for witnesses,’’ Owens said. “We have identified some but we don’t want to identify what they saw until investigators work that out.”
