Gunfire at Hoover home leaves 1 seriously injured, 1 jailed

One person was injured and another jailed following gunfire outside a Hoover home.

Police responded about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday to a 911 call of a shooting in the 2100 block of Kelly Lane.

Officers arrived to find an adult male in the backyard of the residence. He has been shot several times, said Lt. Daniel Lowe.

The victim’s identity has not been released. He was taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, who lives at the home, was take into custody at the scene. Lowe said detectives he and the victim are acquaintances.

Additions details surrounding what led to the shooting have been released.

The suspect is being held in the Hoover City Jail. His name, authorities said, will be released once formal charges are filed.
