Auburn’s Honesty Scott-Grayson named to all-SEC first team
On the same morning she and the Auburn Tigers women’s basketball team boarded a bus to head to Greenville, S.C. to compete in the SEC Tournament, Auburn fifth-year senior Honesty Scott-Grayson also learned that she’d been recognized as an all-SEC first teamer.
The news came Tuesday morning as the SEC announced its women’s basketball postseason awards.
In making the conference’s first team, Scott-Grayson picked up her first all-SEC recognition and gave the Auburn program its first first-team honoree since Unique Thompson in 2020.
For Scott-Grayson, the honor comes after a season that saw her lead the Tigers in scoring with an average of 18.3 points per game — a mark that ranks her as the third-leading scorer in the SEC.
In 10 games this season, Scott-Grayson logged 20-plus points, including two games in which she scored 30 or more points.
In her final game at Neville Arena on Feb. 29, Scott-Grayson put together a fitting finish as she recorded a career-high 32 points to help lift Auburn to a crucial win over Mississippi State.
Earlier this season, Scott-Grayson also played a pivotal role in Auburn’s upset win over then-seventh-ranked LSU on Jan. 14 as she tallied 21 points and the game-sealing steal. Scott-Grayson’s effort against the Bayou Bengals helped her earn SEC Player of the Week honors and be recognized as one of five USBWA National Players of the Week.
Heading into postseason play, Scott-Grayson has already eclipsed the 1,500-career point mark with 1,577 points, which is the 12th-most in program history. She also ranks inside the Auburn’s career top-10 with made three pointers (125) and free throws made (306).
Scott-Grayson and Auburn will look to begin its postseason run on Thursday in Greenville as they matchup with Arkansas in the second round of the SEC Tournament. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
