AL.com’s Derick Hall documentary series ‘Road to the Pros’ wins Associated Press Sports Editors award
The AL.com sports video team received national recognition last week with an Associated Press Sports Editors award for Excellence in Video.
The team was honored for its work on the documentary series Derick Hall: Road to the Pros which was released in April of 2023.
Using extensive interviews with Hall and his inner circle, the series focused on his childhood after being born four months premature, his inspiring rise as a top high school recruit and star at Auburn University, his training for the NFL Combine and the emotional moment he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Laura Goldman spearheaded the project with assistance from Clay Yeager and Wesley Sinor. The trio shares the award with The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times in the A Division, the largest newsroom category.
