Tuscaloosa County man set to be in court for domestic violence now charged with killing ex-girlfriend

A Tuscaloosa County man who was supposed to be in court today on domestic violence charges is now behind bars after authorities said he killed his ex-girlfriend.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday to perform a welfare check at a home in the 1700 block of 47th Avenue N.W. in the Holt community.

They arrived to find 35-year-old Jessika Lyn Andrews dead inside.

Tuscaloosa Violence Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy said Andrews appeared to have been beaten to death.

Andrews’ children were home and told investigators that their mom’s ex-boyfriend had been there Monday night and left after the two argued.

Andrews’ vehicle was also missing from the residence.

The vehicle was found a few hours later. The suspect, 40-year-old Jarvos Jermaine Osborne, was in the vehicle, and quickly taken into custody.

After interviewing the witnesses, several family members, and processing the residence, vehicle, and suspect for physical evidence, Osborne was charged with capital murder.

The charge against Osborne is a capital crime because Andrews had two protective orders against him.

According to court records, Osborne in January was arrested on charges of felony domestic violence and domestic violence/harassment involving Andrews.

Charging documents against him in those cases said officers were called to Andrews’ home on Jan. 26 and found her to have several bruises, as wells as marks on her neck and face.

The deposition states Osborne was intoxicated and irate, and that he had held her down and bitten her multiple times.

Osborne was set to appear in court today for a preliminary hearing on those charges.

Osborne has two previous domestic violence convictions out of Houston, Texas.

He is being held without bond in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
