THE ‘LAND’ OF SPORTS: Construction contracts have been awarded as Saraland’s massive $72 million sports complex moves toward a fall opening. Called simply ‘The Land,’ the 100-acre complex will include 8 baseball and softball fields, three beach volleyball courts, 18 total pickleball courts and 4 basketball courts, Margaret Kates reports.

THE ‘LAND’ OF BEARS: The logo for Saraland’s new sports complex pays tribute to some of its most visible residents. ‘If you live in Saraland, you’ve seen a bear or have a bear looking through your trash.’ In fact, some even say it’s more common to see a bear than a deer.
