Alabama student hits half-court shot on ESPN for $19K, celebrates with Crimson Crane

If the dramatics of Ayvion Cooley is any indication, it’s going to be a wild day in Tuscaloosa.

The Alabama student hit a buzzer-beating, half-court shot for $19K at Coleman Coliseum during ESPN’s broadcast of “College GameDay.”

He had 20 seconds to launch as many shots as he could get up. He finally hit in the final seconds to the delight fans and ESPN analysts in attendance. Cooley celebrated by jumping on the scorer’s table and rocking the Crimson Crane.

The broadcast was ahead of Saturday night’s much-anticipated matchup between No. 14 Alabama and No. 4 Tennessee.

Per the broadcast, Cooley is just the third student to sink the half-court shot all season. Rece Davis asked what he is going to do with the money.

“I have no clue, honestly,” Cooley said.
