Bo Nix excited to play as himself in Madden, college football video games

Graduating college at just the right time, Bo Nix is going to be in two football video games over the next year with the newest editions of Madden NFL and EA College Football.

The former Auburn and Oregon quarterback’s appearance in Madden — the preeminent NFL football video game — well maybe that was to be a little more expected. He’ll be one of dozens of rookies set to enter the game upon their arrival in the NFL this summer. Nix just needs to find out which team’s uniforms he’ll be wearing.

On Friday at the NFL Combine, Nix was asked about seeing himself actually in the game he played growing up as a kid.

“That’s always a tough question,” Nix said. “We all wish we were rated a little higher than what it usually comes out being. But, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. I’m in the game and that’s going to be one of the coolest parts. Not many people can say they’re in Madden. I think that if that time comes, when that time comes, it’s going to be special. I’ll play with myself on the game a lot.”

Yet Nix’s timing worked just well enough to get himself in the game for the return of EA College Football, its first edition since July 2013.

Nix said he used to create a virtual version of himself to use in the game.

But now, with modern NIL deals shaping the game’s return, Nix will be able to select Oregon and play as himself.

“I’m excited,” Nix said of the new college football game. “I remember playing that as a young kid. I would create a player, create myself. Go out there and play. Put together a stacked team and beat the computer 100 to nothing. I think that was fun. It’s part of the reason why growing up everybody got to play with those guys and then eventually become one of them. Now, there’s many opportunities for college guys to be on the game. That’s special. That’s a unique thing. I’m glad they brought it back.”

The new EA game is expected to be released this summer.
