Korean chicken franchise to soon open first of several Alabama locations
Korean chicken franchise Bonchon plans to open its first Alabama location next month in Huntsville.
Bonchon will set up shop in April at 2338 Whitesburg Drive, according to a company spokesperson. Google indicates the opening date will be April 24.
The company last year said it was planning to open five locations in Alabama, along with other restaurants in Arizona, Illinois, Georgia and Minnesota.
It has not yet been announced where the other Bonchons in Alabama will be located.
Bonchon specializes in Korean double-fried chicken, Asian fusion food and Korean specialties. Menu items include Japchae, a sweet and savory dish of stir-fried noodles and vegetables; Bulgogi, thinly sliced ribeye marinated in sauce, served with mushrooms, scallions, and onions, and fried pork and vegetable potstickers.
Founded in South Korea in 2002, Bonchon is Korean for “my hometown.” It currently has more than 114 U.S. restaurants in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. It also has more than 370 international locations.
The company is looking for potential franchisees who have a minimum net worth of $700,000, minimum liquid assets of more than $250,000, and who have restaurant experience.
