NFL Scouting Combine has 9 percent Alabama football roots

Of the 321 players at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine, 28 have Alabama football roots.

The annual event has gathered the top prospects for the 2024 NFL Draft in Indianapolis, where they’ll be checked by medical staff, interviewed by team decision-makers, put through drills to gauge their football skills and tested to measure their athleticism by coaches and scouts.

The participants at this year’s combine who played at Alabama high schools and colleges include:

· Alabama linebacker Chris Braswell

· Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton

· Miami (Fla.) guard Javion Cohen (Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama)

· Alabama defensive tackle Justin Eboigbe

· UCF offensive lineman Tylan Grable (Jacksonville State)

· Auburn defensive tackle Marcus Harris (Park Crossing High School in Montgomery)

· Oregon cornerback Khyree Jackson (Alabama)

· Auburn cornerback DJ James (Spanish Fort High School)

· Ole Miss edge Cedric Johnson (Davidson High School in Mobile)

· Alabama safety Jaylen Key (UAB)

· Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter (American Christian Academy in Tuscaloosa)

· Auburn cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett (Jackson High School)

The players will be on the field in Lucas Oil Stadium from Thursday through Sunday, with the defensive linemen and linebackers on the turf on Thursday, defensive backs and tight ends on Friday, quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs on Saturday and offensive linemen on Sunday.

While Michigan is the program with the most players at this year’s combine with 18, the SEC is the conference with the most players with 75. The Big Ten has 59 players at the combine, the Pac-12 52, the ACC 45 and the Big 12 40.

NFL Network will televise the combine workouts from 2 to 7 p.m. CST Thursday and Friday, noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
