Breezy today across Alabama; gusts of 40 mph possible
Tuesday is expected to be on the breezy side across Alabama, according to forecasters.
Wind gusts as high as 40 mph will be possible in some areas, and the National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for half of the state.
The weather service said an approaching weather system will pull increasingly gusty winds out of the southwest starting this afternoon. Gusty winds are expected on and off through Wednesday afternoon.
The winds could be strong enough to bring down small limbs and blow away unsecured things in the yard.
All of north Alabama will be under a wind advisory from noon today until noon Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville said winds will be sustained around 25 mph with gusts from 35-49 mph possible.
All of central Alabama will also be under a wind advisory from noon today until noon Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said southwest winds are expected to be 15 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph.
Winds across south Alabama could also be gusty at times today, but the National Weather Service in Mobile said high gusts aren’t expected to be frequent enough to warrant a wind advisory for the region.
However, forecasters said sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph will be possible. There’s also a chance there could be occasional gusts as high as 40 mph.
