ESPN’s College Gameday coming to Alabama for Tennessee basketball game

It’s official. ESPN’s College Gameday is heading to Tuscaloosa.

The network announced Saturday morning that the basketball edition of the long-running show will originate from Alabama’s matchup with Tennessee at Coleman Coliseum next Saturday. The game will play a massive role in deciding which team will win the SEC regular-season championship.

College Gameday’s Rece Davis had hinted at the possibility during an appearance on The Next Round Live internet show earlier in the week.

“I would just encourage people not to book their calendars too early on Saturday prior to the game,” Davis said. “Leave some room for perhaps a really nice event that might unfold there, should certain things fall a certain way.”

Alabama has hosted the football version of College Gameday 18 times. However, next Saturday will be the first time the basketball show has come to town.

The Volunteers currently sit at 10-3 in the SEC, one game behind the Crimson Tide, which is 11-2 after beating Florida in its midweek tilt. Alabama plays Kentucky Saturday at Rupp Arena in Lexington, while Tennessee faces Texas A&M in Knoxville.

The Volunteers beat Alabama badly in the first matchup. On Jan. 20 in Knoxville, UT won 91-71.

Next Saturday’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. It will be aired on the SEC Network. College Gameday will be live from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. CT.
