This beloved ice cream snack is making a return… well, kind of

It’s been nearly two years since Klondike officially confirmed it would discontinue the Choco Taco, the beloved ice cream snack filled with vanilla ice cream folded into a taco-shaped cone, and topped with peanuts and fudge.

But the fan favorite may be making a return later this year, thanks to Taco Bell and Portland-based craft ice cream brand Salt & Straw.

At Taco Bell’s “Live Más Live” event in Las Vegas earlier this month, the two brands unveiled what seems to be a rebrand of the Choco Taco. According to The Oregonian, Salt & Straw co-founder Tyler Malek unveiled a “cinnamon ancho chocolate taco” in a box, along with new dipping sauces.

A video on the Salt& Straw Instagram account with text teasing the “epic partnership” offers a sneak peek at a version of the prospective new treats.

Malek confirmed to the Oregonian that the chocolate tacos are coming to Salt & Straw shops this summer. Salt & Straw has crafted its own rendition chocolate ice cream tacos. He says Taco Bell approached him to develop of version of the Choco Taco that could be distributed widely.

So far, there aren’t plans for the taco treat to be available at Taco Bell restaurants, but the dessert will be coming to Salt & Straw shops and the website this summer.
