A 73-year-old state inmate has died while in custody at Donaldson Correctional Facility.

James W. George was found unresponsive in the infirmary late Thursday night, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:42 p.m.

Authorities said George was being treated in the infirmary for natural significant disease.

George was serving a life sentence for a sodomy/beastiality out of Bibb County and second-degree burglary out of Butler County.
