Two Alabama Department of Corrections officers have been indicted for first degree assault in connection with an inmate.

Samuel Adam Dial, 32, of Hillsboro, and Jesse Ray Cobb, 35, of Harvest, were both arrested on Feb. 16.

According to court documents, the two are accused of assaulting William L. Rhinesmith, 75, an inmate in Limestone Correctional Facility serving a five-year sentence for display of obscene matter.

He began serving the sentence last year.

Rhinesmith is currently listed as being incarcerated at Kilby Infirmary.

Both Dial and Cobb were released from the Limestone County Jail on $10,000 bond.

The Alabama Department of Corrections said the two have been reassigned to non-contact posts, pending an investigation, according to WHNT.
