Birmingham woman thrown from motorcycle dies after going over concrete barrier

A Birmingham woman was killed Tuesday when she lost control of her motorcycle on Elton B. Stephens Expressway and dropped to the roadway below.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Wendy Sue Jantz.

She was 52.

The crash happened at 9:14 p.m. on I-59/20 at Elton B. Stephens.

Authorities said Jantz was on the entrance ramp from I-59/20 southbound to the ramp when she lost control and struck a concrete barrier.

She then fell over the barrier to the road below.

Jantz was pronounced dead at 9:37 p.m. on 25th Street North at Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Boulevard.

Birmingham police are investigating.
