Alabama’s top 10 NFL receivers: Current stars crowd in

Six of the top nine NFL receivers from Alabama, as judged by career receiving yards, played in 2023, with Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith adding his name to the list this season.

Smith had 81 receptions for 1,066 yards and seven touchdowns this season, which boosted his three-year total to 3,178 receiving yards, good for eighth on Alabama’s NFL rankings.

Wide receivers Amari Cooper of the Cleveland Browns, Calvin Ridley of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Jaylen Waddle of the Miami Dolphins also surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in 2023 as four Alabama alumni reached the milestone this season.

Former Alabama players have produced 24 1,000-yard seasons in the NFL. Julio Jones and Cooper have seven apiece, Waddle three, Ozzie Newsome, Ridley and Smith two each and Don Hutson one.

With 1,016 receiving yards in his return to the field after a one-season absence, Ridley moved past Tony Nathan into fifth place on Alabama’s all-time NFL list.

Smith’s rise pushed Mark Ingram out of Alabama’s top 10 for career NFL receiving yards.

During the 2023 NFL season, 17 former Alabama players had 654 receptions for 7,535 yards and 40 touchdowns.
