5 injured following North Alabama high-speed chase

Scottsboro police say five people were injured when a vehicle crashed following a high-speed chase Sunday night.

Lt. Ryan Putman said the incident happened at about 11 p.m. Police attempted to stop a 2015 Nissan Altima traveling west on U.S. 72 at about 115 m.p.h.

Putman said the vehicle continued at high speeds, traveling north on Alabama 79, onto Happiness Drive, where it left the roadway and rolled over in the 9500 block.

There were five people inside the Altima. Four were taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. A fifth was flown to Huntsville Hospital and is in stable condition at this time, Putman said.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating the incident.

Charges are expected to follow.
