Montgomery capital murder suspect in teenâs slaying apprehended in Florida
A capital murder suspect in the fatal September shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Montgomery was taken into custody earlier this month in Florida, police said Wednesday.
Raymond Kemp, 19, of Montgomery, was charged with capital murder-robbery in connection with the teen’s slaying on Sept. 20, said Maj. Saba Coleman with Montgomery police.
Kemp was out on $40,000 bond in another case — he was charged with attempted murder — at the time of the slaying, court records showed.
It was not clear when Kemp was identified as a suspect in the shooting death of the 16-year-old boy, whose identity was not released by authorities due to the victim’s age. But two other suspects, ages 16 and 17, were charged with capital murder in the case in December.
Montgomery police requested help from the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task force for help in apprehending Kemp, who was taken into custody by the task force in Cocoa, Florida, on Feb. 1.
Kemp was put in the Montgomery County jail on Feb. 13.
