An Atmore man was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer near Interstate 65, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said in a release Wednesday.

The accident occurred late Monday morning on Jack Springs Road near I-65, about three miles north of Atmore in Escambia County (Ala.).

A 2019 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 87-year-old Ellis E. Lee was struck by a 2014 Kenworth tractor trailer driven by 56-year-old Patrick M. Bankester of Bay Minette.

Ellis was pronounced dead at the scene. Bankester was uninjured.

No other details were released as ALEA continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
