Witnesses, clues sought in deadly Tarrant crash that killed 68-year-old man

Authorities are asking for the public’s help for information in a December traffic crash that killed a 68-year-old man.

The other driver involved, police said, did not stop.

The crash happened about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, in the 2500 block of Pinson Valley Parkway.

Mark Thomas Bonner was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:57 p.m.

Tarrant police said Bonner was traveling southbound on Highway 79 approaching Third Avenue. A red pickup truck was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes, said Sgt. Derrick Williamson.

According to witnesses, Bonner swerved to avoid a head-on collision. When he did, his Kia Sorento left the roadway and crashed in a ravine.

The pickup truck did not stop.

Williams said Bonner’s death is being investigated as a traffic homicide because traveling on the wrong side of the road is a violation of the law and led to a death.
