Pedestrian struck, killed on Tuscaloosa’s University Boulevard

A pedestrian was struck and killed early Tuesday in Tuscaloosa.

The crash happened at 5:33 a.m. at the intersection of University Boulevard East and Juanita Drive.

The victim, a 51-year-old Tuscaloosa man, was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, said Tuscaloosa police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

TPD’s Traffic Homicide unit, which investigates all serious and fatal accidents, responded and is conducting the follow-up investigation.

University Boulevard East will remain closed in both directions this morning until the road is cleared and investigators complete the initial investigation.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
