After Alabama win, Florida loss, Auburn moves down one spot in AP top 25
Auburn is ranked No. 13 in the latest Associated Press top 25 poll, moving one spot down after a 1-1 week with a win over Alabama at home and a loss to Florida on the road.
Auburn (19-5, 8-3) is still in the midst of arguably the most difficult portion of its SEC schedule, and will face two ranked teams this week both at Neville Arena with No. 11 South Carolina and No. 22 Kentucky.
South Carolina has quickly shot up the poll with seven straight wins including beating both Tennessee and Kentucky.
ESPN’s College Gameday will broadcast live from Neville Arena on Saturday morning before the Kentucky game. It will be the third straight year the show has visited Auburn.
South Carolina is currently a Quad 2 game based on its NET rating outside the top 30 while Kentucky is slated as a Quad 1 opponent — despite losing three of its last four games.
Auburn is one game back of first place in the SEC with seven games still to play.
This is the seventh consecutive week Auburn has been ranked this season. Auburn has received at least a vote in every poll this season except the poll released on Dec. 4, a day after Auburn lost to Appalachian State.
The Appalachian State is currently Auburn’s only loss outside the top quadrant. Auburn is 2-4 in Quad 1 games and 17-1 against Quads 2, 3 and 4.
