Head-on collision in Coosa County kills 1, injures 2
One person was killed and two others injured Saturday evening in a head-on collision in Coosa County, according to county emergency medical services.
The wreck happened at about 5:22 p.m. in the 7000 block of Alabama Highway 259 in the Ray community, Coosa County EMS posted on Facebook.
“Two vehicles with extreme damage were found in the middle of the roadway,” the post stated.
Multiple fire and paramedic services were called to the scene “due to the number of patients and significance of the damage,” the post stated.
One person was declared deceased at the scene.
Coosa County and Kellyton EMS, along with Ray Volunteer Fire Department, freed one person who was trapped inside a vehicle.
Two patients were taken to hospitals, one by Kellyton and one by Coosa EMS, in serious but stable condition.
The name of the person killed, and other details of the crash, were not immediately available.
“We ask that you pray for the family of the deceased as they navigate the difficult days to come,” Coosa County EMS posted.
