A Northport man died near Tuscaloosa shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday when his pickup truck left the road and hit a tree, state troopers said.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old Oscar L. Trejo.

Trejo was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado on Watermelon Road less than one mile north of the Tuscaloosa city limits when the truck left the road, troopers said.

He was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
